Who am I?

If like me you spend a lot of time looking at today's news don't you find that it begins to affect your mind and emotions?

Feelings of despair, helplessness and anxiety are all produced by the wall to wall negativity if we allow ourselves to be exposed to it continuously. Currently the mainstream media is saturated with coverage of the Covid-19 pandemic and recently the disturbances in Washington DC. It's all very negative and isn't helped by this era's MSM being the most partisan and controlling they have ever been. We're now in a situation where the media doesn't just want to report the news but to create it as well, stirring up controversies like someone who makes trouble and then pleads innocence.

I think that the media we have today are responsible in a large part for the general feeling of 'unwellness' in society. There is an answer though - keep your mind fixed on God. As His word says:

Isaiah 26:3 (KJV). Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.

God's word has some great 'I am' phrases to counter the negativity of today's world. Far better to turn off the tv and the radio, put the mobile phone  down, throw away the newspaper and pick up the Bible and immerse yourself in it. Let's make a start.

I am a new creation - 2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

I am a child of God - Romans 8:16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:

I am a joint heir with Christ of God's glory and power - Romans 8:17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.

I am exactly like Jesus in my spirit - 1 John 4:17 Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.

I am God’s workmanship, created to do the good works God has prepared for me - Ephesians 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

I am an overcomer - Revelation 12:11And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

I am more than a conqueror - Romans 8:37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

I am an ambassador for Christ - 2 Corinthians 5:20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.

I am a good soldier of Christ - 2 Timothy 2:3 Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.

I am the righteousness of God - 2 Corinthians 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

I am healed - 1 Peter 2:24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

I am prosperous in every area of my life - 3 John 2 Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.

I am free from the law of sin and death - Romans 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

How much better it is to trust in the Lord and to follow His plan for us, to be what he made us to be, make a positive decision to be a child of God!

Chris

I'm someone who came to faith as an adult after a short period of searching for something. I wasn't raised in the church or in any denomination so everything about faith has been new to me. You can read my testimony here.

My family background has been nominal Christian with a strong working class ethos. I tend to have strong moral values but am an economic liberal in the English tradition.

Happily married with 2 dogs, 2 cats and grown up children.
